No Schnauzers Allowed
What a fantastic Spring we have had in Southern Ontario. Our veggie garden is almost a month ahead of where it was this time last year. I should be picking our first homegrown salads this week.
The garden is set up far and away from the Schnauzers, I don't even want to think about what they could do to our fresh greens if given access. Some things are better left unknown.

Revisiting memories
This is one of my all time favorite photos. Mick took this photo several years ago of Hugo, one of our first schnauzers. We decided to take our old two Hugo and Kodie off for a fall BBQ and walk at a local Provincial Park. I love this moment, to me bittersweet as Hugo peers off into the future, still with us, but unknown to us not for long. We packed up the van with sausages to cook, refreshments and the two dogs. They were almost 13 years old at the time and this was our last real outing with them before they both passed away within the next year.
Kodie had a ball playing on the beach, even though her joints were stiff the waves of the lake and crisp Fall air renewed her.
Hugo enjoyed investigating the fall smells, he even toddled off on us when we were photographing Kodie giving us a scare as his hearing was gone and eyesight not much better. Lucky for all he walked in a big circled and we met up with him in the forest not far from where we lost him.
Racing along the sand dunes.
Hugo taking a nap in the van after his walk-a-bout and a lunch of fire roasted sausages.

Happy 14th Jewels!
Jewels turned 14 yesterday. Hard to believe that more then a decade has flown by since the arrival of her and her 7 siblings. I still remember each pup from that litter. Most have now passed away and I am thankful to have my girl Jewels with me. She was such a chubby little pup, from the beginning Jewels was independent and strong minded, little has changed in 14 years.
Jewels had a little bad spell in her health last Autumn, but she has really picked up this year and is going strong.
Jewels adores our new naughty pup Clover and happily plays with her, barking and rolling around on the floor with her great granddaughter. Jewels has never had time for timid pups that lack self esteem, Clover is full of herself and this obviously delights her great grandma.
Happy Birthday Jewels, here's to number fifteen!

Our Lucky Clover
I dithered a long time on whether to keep both Clover and Quiz and finally decided that two pups was too many for me to raise properly at this time. It was too easy to just let the pups amuse each other while I got on with other projects.
Sunday Quiz headed off to an exciting adventure in Ohio with his new family. I would miss him, however Clover is taking up most of my time. It takes a lot of work to exhaust a 14 week old schnauzer pup!
Clover missed Quiz initially, by Monday you could almost read her mind...Quiz who??
Clover recharging her puppy batteries and thinking of new ways to torment us.

I do own dogs other then Daisy
But Daisy is a photo ham, somehow when ever I pick up the camera, there she is. I didn't really notice at first, however trying to get the camera focused on anyone else is almost impossible.
"Wait wait I wasn't quite ready for that shot, I can do better."
"How about this?... never mind that Token & Clover, if I move a little I can totally block them"
"What do you mean move!"
"Sigh....I am so under valued"
