Odd Bookends

One of the interesting things about Token is her need for heat, be it sunshine or sharing body heat. This morning while I was working on the computer Token was wandering about hoping to find a spot of sunshine... or my lap. She finally just sat in front of me and shivered, I popped her up on the chair next to Juno. The expression on Juno's face is priceless, she is doing her best to ignore Token, but in the end she allowed her to snuggle up and steal some warmth. A little later in the day the sun finally came out and here you see Token basking in the rays.

Now THOSE are ears!

Token's ears have been standing up for over a week now. One of the things that caught my interest in the Toy Manchester Terrier is the 'natural' standing ears. As I investigated further I found many traits that I liked about them. Token is a sun-worshipper, here she has found a cushion in the sunshine to enjoy, at times I think she is part feline.

Sigh

That is what Fiddle is doing a lot of these days, she sighs when she gets up, when she lies down, when she sees her dinner. Poor girl, not much longer though, pups are due early next week...sigh

Humphrey's Nemesis

Humphrey may think he is the resident stud muffin but Cutter sure isn't buying into that idea. Cutter is almost 8 years old, how time flies, to me he is still one handsome boy. Sorry Humphrey you maybe the current flavour of the month with the girls, but Cutter is still King. Cutter rules and Humphrey drools...or so says Cutter.

Why can't we be friends?

Four month old Edee would LOVE to be Tokens friend. Unfortunately Edee is a bit too big and possesses too little self control to be loose with Token just yet. Maybe in a few weeks when Token is a wee bit larger, for now they will have to be content to share puppy games between the pen.

Hear hear it's all about ears

Check out those HUGE schnauzer ears. I had decided before Edee arrived that I wanted my next pup to keep her natural ears. I hadn't banked on Edee having a king sized set of ears. I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised as Daddy Humphrey sported rather large ears before he was cropped. In North America we are able to show our schnauzers with either ear style, most dogs in the show ring still sport the traditional cropped ear, however more are being seen with the natural ear and I think it important that judges see them and get use to judging the natural ear. I also encourage my puppy owners to stay with the natural ear, only fair that I have dogs available for them to see with the natural look. I dithered for a long while to keep Edee natural, or, to change my mind and have her cropped.....seriously these are large ears. However, they are set lovely on her head and she uses them well. So far I haven't had to do any additional taping of them even though she is madly teething at the moment. If the ears were smaller I am sure I would of had to tape them down as small ears love to fly around all over the place, guess that is the good thing about her elephant ears. I think if Edee could have a say in the matter she would tell me she is happy I chose to stay with the natural look. Edee Smiles in approval of her gorgeous BIG natural ears!
