Charlie and the Girls

Charlie had surgery on Monday to repair an umbilical hernia. He isn't too happy with the limited play needed to help him heal this week. The girls in the house think it's just great to have Charlie in the middle of the room, I am sure Charlie enjoys being Mr.Popularity. Little does he know that what the girls really want are Charlie's toys.

Fun but busy days

Trinny's pups are 5.5weeks old, this is a fun time with them, but a LOT of work to keep their little minds and bodies occupied. Today the weather was wonderful, perfect June day to be out in the big grassy yard enjoying them. They are now all snuggled in a big pile under the jungle gym snoozing. More photos and video here AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Attack of the Schnauzer pups! Truly terrifying

Toy size

Mersey LOVES balls, she always has, she can amuse herself for hours playing with them. She tosses them, pounces on them, stalks them, stares at them, bats them with her paws, chews them...well you get the picture. Today we were working outside cleaning up the yard and gardens after a very long snowy Winter. Mersey spent a couple hours out with us searching for chipmunks, this involved lots of digging. She managed to scare a couple out of a wood pile, unfortunately they were too quick for her. This is the only time I miss my old farm cat, he was great at killing chipmunks. Eventually she wandered to the edge of the property and found....GOLF BALLS!!!! Oh MY Dog! Mersey heaven. I let her play for a few minutes then retrieved the balls much to her disappointment. If you check out the little video below you can see why I don't let my dogs have golf balls, perfect size to fall to the back of their throat blocking their windpipe. Not a chance I am willing to take regardless of how much Mersey loves them.

A clean shave

For those that wonder what a Standard Schnauzer would look like if shaved of it's distinctive beard & brow. I found this to be an interesting exercise as so much of the actual dog is hidden by coat, this is something I always wanted to do. Hope, who will be 10 years old in March shows us what a beauty she is. I also love to see her eyes and expression, and her striking colouration. Don't worry I am not going to lose my mind and shave all the schnauzers, though the benefit of no grooming is tempting at times.

More silly laughs

It's all about the timing. Hickstead, being a total butt headed boy pup tries to hump the girls, he is corrected by both myself and the schnauzers girls for behaving like an ass, but Daisy delivers the best correction of all. This just made me laugh so hard. Have a great weekend.

A slight pause in posting

I have been a bit overwhelmed the last three months with pups and posts have slowed and now stopped. I should be refueled enough in a week or two to get back to photographing & sharing on the blog. For now enjoy this 'funky' little You Tube video of Fiddle puppy Bea now residing in Milwaukee enjoying a puppy play-date, lots of fun.

Super Fun Puppy Time

Incredible Fall weather allows the pups time outside to stretch their legs and expend some of that endless puppy energy. Enjoy the video it was fun filming the brats.

Super cute puppy-ness

Trinny's pups are starting to look and act like little schnauzers. Today they were downstairs for some socializing including a quick visit from Trinny's owner before they head off for two weeks vacation. This is the smallest girl, she is a little imp, my favorite at the moment, but I like them naughty :-))

Pool Party

"Did some one mention a pool party? I forgot my bathing suit, hoping commando isn't going to get the blog an X-rating!" I don't know what it is with my black girls but they are wild about water. I put Hexe in the house while I filled the puppy pool, she is insane when the water hose is on. Seriously, she has actually knocked me on my butt leaping about trying to catch the water spray. Hazel is a little less...enthusiastic. "More spray please" Behind her is Clover, she is only wet because I sprayed her for leaping on Hazel's back whenever Hazel was playing with the water jet....Clover is not a natural water dog. Clover stalking Hazel from the safety of the weeds.

Why so long between blog posts?

Our two newest Dinsdale residents are taking up a lot of time. What's wrong with the above photo? Sure it looks sweet and maternal, however, those pups were weaned three weeks ago from Fiddle! We have a slight set back, Fiddle seems to think her two monsters need additional mothering, go figure. Fiddle has always been a good mom, in the past she has drawn a bold line on how far her mothering duties were to extend. She doesn't have any milk left, but this little morning bonding ritual is something that she and the pups seem to crave. After that they are off playing with the other dogs and generally causing mayhem to all around them. My sweet Clover has turned into a little devil dog, I find myself changing her name to Clove, or, Cloven One. Quiz is still a bit of a mommas boy, however his confident bratty side is emerging a bit more daily. Quiz seems to have a big boy crush on terrier Token, she loves to play with schnauzers that are her size, however she is finding his amorous advances a bit annoying. I think Quiz is about to be dealt a terrier reprimand especially if he tries tugging on her tail again, sigh a broken heart for Quiz. Video of our Ultimate Mom below. Obviously Jewels (sporting a sweater) does not approve of her granddaughter Fiddle's extended nursing regime.
