Starting with the Pepper & Salt as I did I knew that schnauzers came in MANY different shades of grey, but who would of thought that Black could vary so much?  Trick questions, they are not suppose to, but, believe me they do!

Living in the moment

There are many lessons our dogs can teach us, Mersey demonstrates living and enjoying the moment.

Vermin Control

 While I was washing windows today Mersey was hunting vermin, rats with furry tails, the red devil squirrels.  Sadly she didn't catch any, but she shows fine 'pointing' skills.

Toy size

Mersey LOVES balls, she always has, she can amuse herself for hours playing with them. She tosses them, pounces on them, stalks them, stares at them, bats them with her paws, chews them...well you get the picture. Today we were working outside cleaning up the yard and gardens after a very long snowy Winter. Mersey spent a couple hours out with us searching for chipmunks, this involved lots of digging. She managed to scare a couple out of a wood pile, unfortunately they were too quick for her. This is the only time I miss my old farm cat, he was great at killing chipmunks. Eventually she wandered to the edge of the property and found....GOLF BALLS!!!! Oh MY Dog! Mersey heaven. I let her play for a few minutes then retrieved the balls much to her disappointment. If you check out the little video below you can see why I don't let my dogs have golf balls, perfect size to fall to the back of their throat blocking their windpipe. Not a chance I am willing to take regardless of how much Mersey loves them.

Spring is in the air

Fiddle enjoys the window cocked open for the first time this year What is it Fiddle, a spring breeze? Bike riders enjoying the day? Folks taking a walk Oh NO! It's the little bastard Chipmunk here to taunt my dogs! He/she sits less then 6 foot from the front window, totally oblivious to the chaos going on in my house. Oh how I hate chipmunks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luv to tug

OK so it's starts as tug, then turns to keep away and finally destroy at all costs. My guys don't have access to soft toys, especially soft squeaky toys, their mission in life is to seek out and destroy them. I do use these toys for motivational training. This is their only access to soft, squeaky toys, creating intense focus, with most of my dogs toys are more enticing then food treats.

"Hey watcha doing Beamish?" Have I mentioned that Hickstead has a huge boy crush on Beamish? Well he does and lately the two 'guys' have been spending lots of time together. Beamish tolerates the adoration, Hickstead following him around, worship in his eyes. Beamish has always been a very masculine fellow, he was cocking his leg to pee before he was 12 weeks old. Hickstead on the other hand is a big soft lug, however, I noticed him the other day attempting to pee like a big boy, I am guessing it may have been influenced by Beamish.

Beamish explodes out of the almost 2 foot of snow Caught in graceful mid-air flight And the inevitable plummet to earth. Poor Beamish, almost grown up too bad those big adolescent feet don't always land the way he hopes they will.

Mr.Popularity

Beamish proves to be the 'IN' guy with all the young schnauzers. Hickstead has a serious Bromance for Beamish, it's very funny to watch Beamish on the other hand is in love with Clover Clover is not too sure she feels the same way Actually she finds his advances a little overwhelming. Doesn't take her long to conjure up her Momma Fiddle's attitude telling Beamish to take a hike! And don't come calling again.
