Revisiting memories

This is one of my all time favorite photos. Mick took this photo several years ago of Hugo, one of our first schnauzers. We decided to take our old two Hugo and Kodie off for a fall BBQ and walk at a local Provincial Park. I love this moment, to me bittersweet as Hugo peers off into the future, still with us, but unknown to us not for long. We packed up the van with sausages to cook, refreshments and the two dogs. They were almost 13 years old at the time and this was our last real outing with them before they both passed away within the next year. Kodie had a ball playing on the beach, even though her joints were stiff the waves of the lake and crisp Fall air renewed her. Hugo enjoyed investigating the fall smells, he even toddled off on us when we were photographing Kodie giving us a scare as his hearing was gone and eyesight not much better. Lucky for all he walked in a big circled and we met up with him in the forest not far from where we lost him. Racing along the sand dunes. Hugo taking a nap in the van after his walk-a-bout and a lunch of fire roasted sausages.
