Dinsdale Mersey Beat

Mersey is feeling much better, she is being treated for Pyoderma, a bacterial skin infection and I have switched out her food, she is now on a total raw diet.  Her eyes look brighter, coat and skin healthier.  Nice to have her on the mend, she had me concerned for a bit.

The other oldster

A couple days ago I posted a new photo of Cutter, this is his sister Hope.  She and Cutter are the 'mature' dogs here, both 11 years this Spring.  I find the breed generally ages amazingly well, you wouldn't know either of these dogs were eleven.  In my experience the cross over age from prime to geriatric is year twelve to thirteen.  This is when you will realize that they are aging, if you don't have any serious health issues at this time then they usually enjoy a good and spritly old age, if health issues start to flare up it may be a sign that they are going to have difficulty in their final years.  I have my fingers crossed for Hope and Cutter who right now are in excellent health.

Sweet, sweet and sweet

Yep, she's back on the blog, the sweetest schnauzer ever, Hazel.  Dogs present us with so many different personalities and Hazel has been, since puppyhood, the most sweet natured schnauzer I have owned.  She isn't confrontational, not particularly cheeky, she isn't dominant (which doesn't necessarily make her a wuss) she is respectful (probably a bit too much so with some of the older girls) funny and playful, wonderful when we have young pups in the house, she has always been super trustworthy with pups and small dogs.  The only time I see her *bitchy* side is when she is in season, the noises she can produce when a boy even looks at her, well lets just say it seems to cool their advances pretty damn fast.
Here are some photos taken today of the worlds sweetest schnauzer.

OK Olive you are Super Yummy Sweet too
Hmmm....Daisy??  OK, ok, today you are number three on the Sweetness Scale

Our (belated)Birthday Girl

Olive is a year old...yesterday, I am always a little behind. She is affectionate and fun, our youngest puppy Poppy LOVES her best, well her and Hazel, both of whom enjoy endless puppy play. She can be bubbly and enthusiastic, but definitely has a very soft and sensitive side. I see lots of her mother in her physically, however temperamentally she is very different from Fiddle, more like her happy father. Big Happy Birthday wishes to all her litter-mates. Below are a photos recently recieved from the owners of some of Olives littermates. If anyone else has a recent photo of their Fiddle & Beamish Birthday pup send along and I will post here. This is Clover And the wicked smiling Bea Ailis looking beautiful in her newly stripped coat And this would be Chaos The Handsome Ryder

We have a name

She has gone through several names over the last month, mostly I called her 'Puppy' last night I started calling her 'Poppy' and she of course responded to that immediately. So, let me introduce our newest little 'flower' Poppy.

The BIG number TEN!!!

"Happy Birfday to me, happy birfday to me....I look like a monkey......and I smell like one too" "Speak for yourself Cutter! I am just so embarrassed to see my age in print for all to read, a lady never reveals her age." Yep our dynamic dual of Cutter and sister Hope turned 10 years old yesterday. I can barely believe that time has flown by that fast. Happy birthday to the worlds cutest siblings and two of the easiest pups I have ever raised. They have been a joy.

Manly stuff

"Hey watcha doing Beamish?" Have I mentioned that Hickstead has a huge boy crush on Beamish? Well he does and lately the two 'guys' have been spending lots of time together. Beamish tolerates the adoration, Hickstead following him around, worship in his eyes. Beamish has always been a very masculine fellow, he was cocking his leg to pee before he was 12 weeks old. Hickstead on the other hand is a big soft lug, however, I noticed him the other day attempting to pee like a big boy, I am guessing it may have been influenced by Beamish.

Snowy faces

I took hundreds of photos today while out enjoying the new snow with the dogs, it will have me editing and resizing for days! Here are a couple of quick portraits from my first edit. Above is the dashing Beamish, just shy of 2 years Beamish is maturing into a striking male standard schnauzers. More then just a pretty face Beamish has such a super temperament all the other dogs have a blast with Beamish. Ahhhh....how cute is Olive? Clover looking all grown up and serious about herself.

Introducing....

The worlds sweetest schnauzer. I know, I know, you are saying, no way mine is, however I have to disagree and say that Hazel is indeed the sweetest schnauzer I have ever met. I normally don't keep pups with her personality, they just don't do very well in my household, as a rule I keep the most obnoxious and outgoing pups in the litter. Hazel was rather submissive and softly affectionate from the start, of course I mentally dismissed her as the choice for me, but somehow... here she is. I had a friend stay for a few days the other week, she quickly informed me that Hazel was indeed a very sweet pup, she declared however, that her half sister (whom she owns) was the sweetest, but, by the end of her stay, she had to agree that Hazel IS the sweetest pup she has ever met.

Meet the new guy

It has been a few years since I have kept a male from a litter. I think the last boy was Humphrey, that is five years ago. Beamish (born on St.Patrick's Day) is our new young Dinsdale hopeful, he is one cute pup, right down to his green horns :-)
