Beautiful old dogs, love them

Great end of summer photo of 14 year old Bailey.

This girl is in the pedigree of so many Dinsdale Schnauzers, she is Mom to Cutter & Hope, sired by Ch.Oakwood Simply Simon, Mom of Fiddle, sired by Ch.Dinsdale Rules of Engagement, Mom of Rosie, sired by Ch.Dinsdale Vision Quest.  Her progeny have contributed immensely to my breeding program.  Bailey lives in Edmonton with friends and is chugging along, she had a few health scares early in the year but has enjoyed her summer.  Bailey's mom was my beloved Jewels.
Fun to receive photos of the old ones from the owners of our dogs, it's not all about the puppies, in the long run it's barely about the puppies at all.

Brat Pack

I love when the owners of my dogs hook up for play-dates.  This is a little Manitoba Brat Pack that meets up to let their Schnauzers have a romp.  All of them are Beamish kids (yes my boy that is currently tormenting me-see post below)
Sitting in front is Ailis a Fiddle & Beamish daughter, behind her is her little sister Mitzi and to the left Quito, both Mitzi & Quito are Trinny & Beamish daughters.

Searching for photos of Christmas Elves

Tidus and Santa
I am starting to receive Christmas photos from owners.  You all know how I love funny, silly, cute, hilarious photos of Schnauzers.  If you have one of our Standard Schnauzers do share your Christmas photos and I will continue to add to our list of Christmas elves.
Heck, even if you have a Standard Schnauzer from another breeder send it in and we will get it up on the Blog.  Ho ho ho  don't you feel the Schnauzer Woe :-)

Sgt Pepper

Sgt Pepper is a pup from Hexe's first litter, sired by Beamish.  When I received an update from his owners yesterday I couldn't get over how much Sgt looked like his daddy Beamish!
He was the only Pepper & Salt male in Hexe's litter (baby photo above) a stunning bright silver pup with a gorgeous coat, yep just like Daddy.   I got the biggest kick out of this pup as he loved to sleep 'under' the pillow, funny little character.  When his future owners first came to visit me they were pretty stuck on getting a black pup, later they told me that meeting future Dad Beamish made the difference and they were happy to take either colour.  I love great updates and am thankful for owners that keep an open mind about their future pup.

Below is a photo of their boy at almost 5 months of age and an update about him.  Thank you Kelly & Jon and as you can see, I did enjoy the photo :-)  Oh and check out the groomed photo of his dad in the post below, what a family resemblance!

Hi Lori

It's been a while since we sent you an update on Sgt Pepper, so I thought I'd drop you a line.

Our little pup is doing great!  He is such a wonderful addition to our family.  I don't know what we did without him!

He is teething right now, so a little uncomfortable, but we've made sure he has lots of toys and things to chew.  We are working on training, and we find him to be very smart and quick to learn.  But most of all, we are so happy with his temperament!  He is such nice pup...  Very happy and easy going.  I can't thank you enough for giving us such a wonderful puppy.

I've attached a picture we took today.  We were walking home from the dog park, and he turned his head at the perfect time.

Enjoy!

Beautiful Ontario

When Frodo's owner gave me the permission to post a few photos from his Flickr account I had no idea I would have such a hard time choosing 1 or 2 wow, what beautiful photos,  here are my SEVEN favorite shots starring Frodo.
Sometimes living in Ontario we become envious of all the beautiful places outside of our Province, our Country, these photos made me step back and appreciate what an absolutely gobsmacking, beautiful place we live in.

I encourage visitors to click on the Flickr link and visit Tom's other photos.

Eight year old Frodo is a litter-brother to my Fiddle.

Our (belated)Birthday Girl

Olive is a year old...yesterday, I am always a little behind. She is affectionate and fun, our youngest puppy Poppy LOVES her best, well her and Hazel, both of whom enjoy endless puppy play. She can be bubbly and enthusiastic, but definitely has a very soft and sensitive side. I see lots of her mother in her physically, however temperamentally she is very different from Fiddle, more like her happy father. Big Happy Birthday wishes to all her litter-mates. Below are a photos recently recieved from the owners of some of Olives littermates. If anyone else has a recent photo of their Fiddle & Beamish Birthday pup send along and I will post here. This is Clover And the wicked smiling Bea Ailis looking beautiful in her newly stripped coat And this would be Chaos The Handsome Ryder

Ahh Summer....time to relax

It is always fun to receive updates from folks that own one of my schnauzers. What never ceases to amaze me is when these owners run into each other. I have had several updates this year that included Dinsdale Schnauzer owners meeting on the street, at parks at their local Petsmart. Such a small world we live in. Below is a little update about Ozzie (pictured above) doing what we all should be doing this summer.

Hello Lori,

First of all I would like to apologize for not keeping in touch and updating you on how Ozzie is doing. Well he is doing just great, he has been a welcomed member to our family. He has such a great personality plus wants to meet everyone he encounters on his daily walks. He has the look, he will be on the couch or hanging off the foot stool and you will feel the stare down knowing it is time for the walk. It was on one of our walks we ran into another Dinsdale dog, Hugo and his family who also lives in Sherwood Park. It has been such a rarity to see another standard in our area and for it to be one of your pups. This is such a great breed of dog and I would like to thank you again for allowing us to experience what is like to have one of your dogs. Here are a couple of pictures from the lake and Oz in his favourite thing the boat, loves to bark instructions to the skiers plus get into the water with family .

Cheers to Ozzie's owners for taking the time to share photos and update me on their boy.

Ryder

Fiddle & Beamish son Ryder is co-owned with friend Andrea who also owns Agility Schnauzer stars Quinte & Harley. It is my hope that Ryder will mature into a handsome man and become part of the Dinsdale breeding program. I'm sure Andrea is just hoping to make it through his adolescence.....for now he is one wiggly, wiry, silly boy with outrageous spider monkey legs, sooooo cute! He has a super personality and I hope Andrea is having fun with this fellow, oh heck just look at him, how could you not enjoy Ryder :-)) Good Luck to Andrea and Quinte at the AAC Agility Regionals this weekend!

Extreme Raw Feeding

If you follow my blog you will know that I encourage feeding our dogs a raw and natural diet. Miss Molly below decided to fetch her own dinner :-)) Molly lives in beautiful Montana with her owner Terrie who sends me the most stunning photos of her girl. Terrie isn't new to Schnauzers, she owned and loved a Giant Schnauzer prior to Molly. I know Molly was a wee bit of a trial to Terrie through puppyhood (stop laughing at the 'wee bit' Terrie) But she stuck with it and ended up with a mature (still naughty enough) Molly. I have also included a couple of photos taken during their trips to the Oregon coast.Terrie writes.....
I just had to share this photo of Molly taken while hiking along a river here in Montana. This was her first encounter with a deer she could "catch"...or should I say, part of a deer. Thank god she didn't find the entire carcass! She was just so proud of this yucky item and was strutting around with loads of attitude. The worst part was we took it from her, needless to say, before letting her in the car for the return trip home. She whined for the entire 70 mile drive...she wanted her trophy! This dog does not forget easily:-) She is quite a character and makes life so much fun living with this little screw ball.
Best to you,
Terrie and Molly

The Devilishly Handsome Noah

Noah is the much loved companion of Heather and her family. Heather waited a long time to finally add a Standard Schnauzer to her home. I was very flattered to have her choose one of our pups to be that dog. Noah will be two this year and I think he is maturing into the companion she was hoping for. He is certainly a handsome devil. His sire is our Finn and mom is Abby. Below are some words from Heather about her boy Noah. He is doing very well this winter. He makes us laugh at least daily. We have not been as active with him this winter due to the cold and wind but he has adjusted to the quieter lifestyle quite well, considering. When it is nice out, he just loves the snow as you will see in the photos I have included. Noah is growing up to be such a wonderful young man. He is suspicious of strangers at our door and puts on quite a show but once they come in, he cannot get enough of the attention. He seems a bit more nervous about men in dark clothing for some reason. Outside of our house he is extremely outgoing and energetic. He loves the boys and cannot get enough of them either. He is not an overly snugly boy but prefers to be near you, rather than on top of you. He never tires of playing or running and has been a great companion as I have been training to run 3km this winter. Noah is more then just a pretty face, he composed his own email to me :-)) Hey they do call Standard Schnauzers the dog with the human brain.

Dear Lori

My mom said I could use the computer to send you a note.

I am having a great time this winter. I alternate between playing in the snow outside and lying on the couch beside the fireplace. I love to watch the cats outside and came close to catching a sleepy possum once. As I sit here writing this to you now, I can look out the window and keep an eye on things. My mom says that someday maybe I will have a schnauzer brother or sister to play with but I have a good time with my two human brothers. They have balls of all sizes and those are my favourite. I hope to be able to see you again someday but wanted to send you this note and photo to let you know I am doing great. Say hi to my Dad Finn and Mom Abbie when you see them. My mom says I look like both of them. Enjoy the photos and I will follow your news on the internet.

Love,

Noah

Dinsdale Owners

Meet puppy Poppy who's mom is Trinny and dad is Finn, for those that follow the blog she is sister to the wonderful Chase whom I intended to keep...until she kept growing. Sad for Lori :-( great for her new owner Glenda :-) Poppy lives on the West Coast of Canada with owner Ann and her older Aussie brother Pecos. I just loved these photos and had intended to make one a Feature Photo on my website, but couldn't decide which I liked more and so I decided to place them both, here on my blog. I get so many wonderful photos and updates from some really great owners that I will try to run some photos every week, so check in for future 'Dinsdale Owner' photo updates. AND if you own a pup from us, why not drop me an update and some photos and I will make your schnauzer a star on the Blog :-)) Below is some text from Ann's email telling me what Poppy (and that handsome man Pecos) have been up to.

Just thought I would send you a quick message to let you know how Poppy is doing. She is a super sweet girl and is doing really well here. She now weighs about 33 pounds and has been holding there since December. She has been out in the field with me now on several occasions and does pretty well. She hasn’t quite figured out the concept of stick around but does come back immediately when called. She really looks to Pecos and he has been a great teacher! She knows the basic commands and a ton of tricks. She really is super smart and picks up stuff almost immediately! I can’t wait to start her in agility as I think she is going to be a jumpers queen!!! She gets out every weekend with our trail walking group and has made lots of doggie friends! We often take walks along the beach where they have a total blast. She has been swimming a couple of times (not intentionally really) and does well. We have a canine pool in town and I think I am going to take her there so she can learn in a nice warm and safe environment. That way she will be confident enough to jump in the lake or ocean with the other dogs! I am thinking of getting her certified as a therapy dog because she is so good with people. Pecos was too wild when he was younger but I think Poppy would be great!

Thanks Anne for keeping in touch....
