Sun spotting

Token is like a sunflower that always seems to point towards the sun. In the morning she starts her vigil to the sun gods waiting patiently for it to make an appearance in the front room.

Say Cheese!

Some say dogs can't smile...I beg to differ.

Dog Beds

OK some of my friends will tell you that since getting my Manchester Terrier, Token, I have an addiction to buying dog beds. I admit, we now have an array of pillows and beds scattered in the main room, but in my defence that is as much for our older geriatric girls as for Token...I mean honestly Token spends most of her time on my lap :-) I went to Costco today and they had this indoor/outdoor bed on sale for $21.00 seriously how could I pass that by?? I like that it is a weave and you can just hose it down, it will make a great lounge for when I have pups, or up in the spare bedroom for the next new mom. For now Daisy seems to like it.

Coat rework

Last year I started clipping Hexe's coat, being black it immediately began to fade and lose the wonderful deep black colour. I decided that I would attempt to strip out her coat and see if I could restore it to it's original glory. Yesterday I spent almost two hours pulling at Hexe's coat, what a job...and it still looks like hell :-( I will continue and see how long it takes to get it looking nice again, I am hoping one or two full strip outs should have it growing back in with proper texture and colour. Will post photos over the months to show the results. Such a lovely day yesterday we did a little photo shoot with Hexe in all her wavy undercoat. I am a little biased but doesn't she look gorgeous. Changing the topic but still about Schnauzers, friend Patti of Torhaus Standard Schnauzers has handsome 10 month old Hershey (photo below) available to the right home. You will remember Hershey as the wonderful WMPP (Worlds Most Perfect Pup) photographed at the beach with Beamish last summer. If you have been thinking about a Standard Schnauzer, or, better yet, a second one, drop an email to Patti and she would be happy to talk further about this super young boy. Go to my website HERE for more details.

Sunday Mornings

Bliss pups OUTSIDE playing and everyone else relaxing while I enjoy a coffee. Isn't that what Sundays should be about.

Natural ears

We kept natural ears on Clover & Quiz, which means when they start to fly out in an extraordinary manner we un-naturally tape them down. Clover's had been sitting funny for the last few days, while the ears on Quiz were starting to raise up above his head, yesterday I got out the masking tape and taped the ears down on both pups. Other then attempts to scratch or rub them off both pups have been pretty good about the tape, even lasting overnight. I will give it a couple days then remove and see if they are looking better. Usually it only takes a 2-3 tapings to convince the ears to sit properly. Scratching in tandem.

Spring fever

Yep Spring fever hit me hard with a big stinking Spring Cold, yuk! I managed to stay healthy all winter then warm weather arrives and I catch a cold :-( The last week has been spent feeling sorry for myself and attempting to keep two growing pups entertained, failing miserably at both. Witness below as Quiz has a Whiz in my house, cannot believe Mick caught it on the camera. I hope the owners of his siblings are doing a better job with the house training then I am. I did manage to have Schnauzer Noah and his owner over for a small grooming and show ring preparation lesson. Hopefully my head was clear enough that Heather picked up some handy tips for getting Noah ready for his first show. Noah is a pup from our breeding last year of Finn and Abby, and what a handsome man he has grown up to be. His owner is doing a super job on his coat, Noah was extremely well behaved considering how long we had him on the grooming table. Below are a few pics I snapped before they left. In past photos Heather has sent me I have always thought Noah looked most like his mom Abby, in person I was floored by how he resembled his wonderful dad Finn.
